Mid Century Lounge Chair handcrafted in England

-SOLD-This svelte mid-century chair was handcrafted in England with a Danish Modern Style. We replaced the original upholstered armrests with select figured birch to give a refreshing contrast of wood tones, and did a total refinish on this chair after finding these vintage cushions in excellent condition which are a perfect fit. The contours on this piece are exquisite and the construction is top notch. The lines are a bit longer than in most Danish Modern chairs, resulting in an attitude of elegant repose. This piece was one of our all time favorite restorations.

Anthology Coffee Table by Epoch

The newest addition to our Anthology Collection, this rugged, distinguished coffee table displays all the winning attributes of our Anthology Dining and Banquet Tables,in a smaller scale with a price point to match. Six locally sourced hardwood species are represented in the 2″ thick top, which displays a variety of dovetail joints situated to create a visual flow which is both spontaneous and balanced. 20 degree angles on the short edges of the top add a contemporary element to this table’s weathered character, and tie in with the outward flare of the iron hairpin legs. An acrylic finish protects the top while allowing the wood to completely retain it’s raw natural color.

With it’s minimalist profile and eclectic combination of material, this handcrafted table is equally suited for rustic, contemporary, or mid century modern decor ~$365

Anthology Banquet Table by EPOCH

The largest piece in Epoch’s own Anthology Collection, this rustic dining table exemplifies the creativity and craftsmanship which abound in our wood shop. We use pre-industrial joinery and hand tools to give our work a primitive authenticity equalled only by it’s rugged durability. The table top features a dozen species of locally sourced lumber connected by an array of thoughtfully placed dovetail joints. Most of this material is reclaimed from industrial sources. Each top is a result of lengthy deliberation on the proper placement of each piece of wood based on its color, grain, and textural qualities.
The stout legs seen here come from an antique poplar beam out of the original Siewers lumber mill, possibly dating back to the 19th century. The beautifully aged patina was maintained on as many surfaces as possible. The poplar stretcher which underlies the table is connected to maple cross members by a keyed mortise and tenon joint, a tasteful reference to the craftsmanship of our forefathers.
This table now resides in the home of the client who commissioned it, but we would be happy to build another like this one to your exact specifications. Please contact us for pricing.

Spalted Elm Coffee Table with Live Edge

This righteous slab of spalted elm sits atop poplar legs and a cherry apron to create a truly unique piece of live edge furniture. The black linear patterns seen at the edges of the table top, called spalting, are caused by the early growth stages of a specific fungus. In this piece, they provide the perfect complement to the wandering grain pattern and pastel color scheme of unstained elm. A prominent live edge graces each side of the hourglass shaped top. This table now resides in the home of the client who commissioned it, but another like it can be built to your specifications.

Anthology Restaurant Table by EPOCH

This is a custom table from our Anthology Collection, designed specifically for Lucy’s Restaurant in Jackson Ward. It features a 2″ thick top comprised of a variety of reclaimed beams connected by decorative wood joinery. Cherry, Black Walnut, Poplar, Oak, figured Maple, and antique Heart of Pine all find a home in this diverse neighborhood.Textural contrast is the theme here, between old wood and new, weathered and clean, dark and brilliant.
Tastefully angled edges mirror a tapered leg profile to blend modern geometry with traditional construction. Shaker-style wedged mortise and tenon joints connect sturdy maple legs to this singularly eclectic dining surface, ensuring a long and useful life for this unique table.

Live Edge Oak Dining Table

This rustic dining table was handcrafted from red oak milled in Caroline county,VA. The natural edge on the 1 1/2″ thick top was preserved and sanded to a beautifully smooth finish, memorializing the long life of the oak tree which made this project possible. Walnut dovetail inlays stabilize the cracks which occurred during the drying process, providing interesting contrast which accentuates the naturalistic feel of this piece. Intense figuring on the outsides of all four legs lends a subtle elegance to the robust heft of this grandiose table. I chose a polymerized tung oil finish for this table to keep the look as organic as possible while providing a durable, easy to maintain,and waterproof finish.
