Long, slender, solid wood elliptical drawer pulls are the highlight of this Mid Century Modern highboy dresser by Harmony House Furniture Company. The deep undulating tones in the grain on these pulls is absolutely captivating. The third drawer features a complimentary indentation behind the pull and adds visual interest. Incredibly rich contrasting tones are evident in the select walnut grain of the casing. With five drawers, a stretcher base and short tapered legs providing the distinct profile that instantly marks its vintage, this uncommon high dresser measures 34″W X 18″D X 43″H.

Rare Mid Century Teak Highboy Tivøli Collection, Stanley Furniture

<SOLD> This exceedingly rare, sophisticated and patented design from the ‘Tivøli Collection’ by H. Paul Browning for Stanley ‘Distinctive Furnitures’ features rich, old growth teak veneer with a multi tonal grain, unique pulls, and a floating profile. The dark, rich tone of this dresser is representative of the old growth teak which was nearly exhausted as the demand for teak furniture increased during the 1960’s. This mid century modern dresser has been stripped of its factory finish to reveal exquisite grain that required no stain to enrich its natural color. It has been finished with a satin Tung oil varnish for durability and water resistance. With cast brass pulls, circular brass back plates, and finger jointed legs, this rare chest is a gleaming example of the highest echelon of American mid-century furniture design. Measuring 36.5″W X 19″D X 44″H, this authentic, vintage case piece represents some of the best that mid twentieth century furniture designers have to offer.

Mid-Century Modern Highboy Dresser from the Lane Rhythm Collection

<SOLD> This mid-century modern tall chest from the Lane Rhythm Collection offers everything a modern highboy dresser should : style, stability, and storage. There are three roomy lower drawers and two upper drawers concealed behind double doors, all of which slide on patented metal glides to ensure strength and ease of operation. The rattan door panels are reversible in order to display a finished walnut surface if desired. The frame of this chest is built of solid poplar overlaid with walnut veneer, while the base and pulls are constructed of solid pecan. The door frames are made of solid walnut.

Lane introduced the Rhythm Line in the mid-1960’s to incorporate elements of Shaker furniture into a modern design scheme offering a more traditional approach. The simplicity of the inward tapered legs and subtle arc at the top of the door frames allude to both Shaker and Danish design aesthetics. The horizontal rounded-over drawer pulls which span the width of the piece appeal to minimalist sensibilities while providing paramount functionality. The select Walnut veneer which gilds this beautiful chest was originally given a warm medium amber finish which differentiates Lane Rhythm furniture from most of it’s competitors. Only Drexel’s Declaration Line offers a finish of similar character and quality. This dresser has been refinished with a Tung Oil varnish which reproduces the depth and lustre of the original finish while improving durability and water resistance. The top of this dresser features especially rich figuring which is enhanced by the treatment it has been given in our restoration shop. Measures 40″W X 18″D X 46.25″H.

This statuesque walnut highboy dresser by Dixie furniture features four drawers with svelte elliptical brass pulls with black centers on the top two. The second drawer is double the depth of the top drawer with one wooden dividing panel in the center providing deep storage for bulky items such as sweaters and jeans. The two lower drawers have a thin recessed area below them which serves as pulls. With a poplar frame overlaid with select walnut veneer, this piece is supported by a solid walnut stretcher base. The dresser measures 38″W X 18.5″D X 44.5″H

This striking mid-century modern high dresser by United Furniture features seven spacious drawers with blind pulls, a sculptural base reminiscent of Kagan and Pearsall, and a modern multi-tiered profile. Four small drawers are on the upper level. The top right drawer has a plastic coin organizer completely intact for storing all kinds of small items such as jewelry, cuff links, or loose change. Three wide drawers are positioned below – the top drawer in this section is divided into three separate compartments for organizational purposes. This lovely vintage dresser is constructed of solid poplar clad in black walnut veneer, with oak accents. The warm honeyed tones of the oak and walnut create a pleasant, subtle contrast. An overall refinishing reveals highly figured grain in the select walnut veneer. This piece provides maximum storage capacity with two wide, deep top drawers, and a row of three shorter drawers on either side of the bottom half.
