Vintage Walnut Patchwork Coffee Table with Splayed Wood Legs

SOLD

vintage handcrafted walnut coffee table

This vintage handcrafted coffee table features an array of texture and color within the staggered arrangement of walnut veneer which covers the elongated rectangular top. The top and sides have been refinished with Danish oil for a natural, yet protected surface. The structural elements are all hardwood, with wood cleats attaching the legs for optimum stability. The thickness of the top affirms the robust nature of this unique piece, while the variegated amber wood tones lend radiance and lightness. The corners of the table are tastefully rounded to soften the profile and improve safety  for children.

Mid Century Live Edge Cypress Table with Hairpin Legs

SOLD

vintage-live-edge-cypress-table-hairpin-legs

This mid century cypress table features highly figured grain pattern and an highly irregular live edge. Perched on bare hairpin legs with fluctuating fingers of wood that reach in all directions, this coffee table is the perfect complement to a sectional sofa.  This beautiful slab of old growth cypress is protected with an epoxy coat with some light scratches noted.  Cypress was often used in the mid twentieth century to make wall clocks as well, as its surprisingly light weight makes it easier to manipulate. We purchased this slab in Callao, Va so it was likely harvested in Virgina’s Northern Neck.

Danish Modern Teak Surfboard Coffee Table by Grete Jalk

SOLD

danish modern mid century teak coffee table

This exemplary Danish Modern Teak Surfboard coffee table merges sleek, sophisticated style and practical functionality. It is a masterpiece of Danish minimalism designed by Grete Jalk for Glostrup Mobelfabrik in the 1960s. Long enough to pair with an extra- mid-century sofa, it draws the eye to the center of the room, conveying a sense of levity and motion. The sculpted trim which runs the length of the top flatters the table’s elegantly curved profile while keeping all your accoutrements safely on the tabletop. A slatted shelf offers plenty of space for reading materials or other articles to be kept out of sight. Stylishly tapered legs set off the dramatically cantilevered top, allowing it’s elliptical profile to be the center of attention. The legs, base, and trim are solid teak, and the main surface of the top is clad in matching teak veneer. This beautiful coffee table maintains it’s original finish, with minimal signs of wear appropriate for the age of the piece. It is in perfect structural condition. There is a barely noticeable separation of veneer on one corner of the top which has been stabilized. This can be seen in photos 2 and 3 below. Otherwise, this is a museum quality piece.

Mid Century Modern Wood Slat Coffee Table Bench

SOLD

mid century modern wood slat coffee table yugoslavia

This vintage solid wood slat coffee table looks perfect in front of a sofa, and also can serve as a bench. Constructed of Yugoslavian hardwood, it is exceedingly solid for a piece with such a slim profile. The legs are attached with hanger bolts which thread into metal cylinders set directly into the wood braces, instead of with external metal brackets which are much less stable. The original finish is in very good condition, and there are no structural flaws. The light visual weight of this versatile piece makes it perfect for mid-century modern or contemporary decor.

Circular Cherry Slab Coffee Table

SOLD

handcrafted cherry slab coffee table

This handcrafted circular cherry slab coffee table features a captivating grain pattern, visible wood joinery which is both functional and aesthetically pleasing, and a smooth satin lacquer finish. It sits on three sturdy  bare steel hairpin legs which add an industrial edge. The bare steel complements the subtle tones of amber and beige in the slab top. The cracks which occur inevitably while a piece like this dries have been filled with  polyester resin tinted with cherry sawdust to give an organic look and smooth feel. Double dovetail inlays of quartersawn cherry have been  inserted  where necessary for enduring structural stability. This unique naturalistic piece was crafted by local artisan Josh Barker. It measures 24″ in diameter and stands 17″ high.
