Mid-Century Stow Away Cedar Chest

<SOLD> This rare Mid-Century Modern compact dresser by Cavalier circa 1945 has three unique vented cedar drawers to keep your belongings fresh and moth-free. This elegant chest has gorgeous, distinctive lines and unusual horizontal veneer figuring with sculpted walnut horseshoe shaped pulls. The casing has been refinished in our restoration shop and is in excellent condition.

The outer appearance of this chest was given considerable thought and is apparent in the placement of the incredibly striking veneer. Even the toeboard on this piece has been well thought out. Book matched walnut veneer meets in the center of two inwardly angled pieces creating a bowtie effect. The pulls on this chest are unlike any other we’ve seen : sculpted pieces of solid walnut shaped like flat sided irregular horseshoes with a curved bevel edge.

The interior of this chest and each individual drawer is constructed of fresh cedar. The drawers are vented to allow air to flow through. The Cavalier name offers “Complete Cedar-Chest Protection” and “Aroma-flow Constructed Drawers”

The “Stow Away” chest with “aroma flow constructed drawers” measures 36″W X 19″D X 30″H and is an  exceptional storage piece.  Sold on 6/11/16 for $425

Mid Century Cedar Chest by Lane Circa 1961

<SOLD>This is a magnificent walnut cedar chest by Lane circa 1961 in absolute mint condition with all tags present.  The outer edge of the top is gently curved and gives this chest added dimension. Dubbed the “Sweetheart Chest”, this piece has an felt lined interior shelf for smaller items, and an airtight cedar lining to protect your belongings. Truly an exceptional design with solid walnut strips adorning the front, this is the sweetest blanket chest we’ve ever encountered.  The lock on the chest has been disabled for safety purposes, but can be reattached by the buyer if so desired. Measures 47″W X 18″D X 25″H. Sold 5/21/2016 for $399

<SOLD> Made in Martinsville, Virginia, this stunning coffee table has inlays of four point stars in nickel accenting each corner. Other design features include contrasting wood grain on either end of the top surface providing a striking contrast and simple tapered legs. The end tables have one drawer each with an understated brushed nickel pull and the same X-shaped inlays on the corners as the coffee table. Sold as a set only. The coffee table measures 54″W X 20.5″D X 14″H.  End Tables measure 20″W 28″H X 21.5″H with the lower level measuring 16″H.  Coffee table and 2 end tables sold for $700 April 2016

<SOLD>This handsome live edge hickory slab foyer table features an impressive slab of wood cut in Chesterfield County, Virginia. The patina of the natural edge contrasts beautifully with the smoothly finished top surface.  This lends an organic touch to the sophisticated minimalist vibe. The unique mix of reds, browns, and ivory tones found in hickory, set it apart from any other local hardwood species. The textural contrast is reminiscent of walnut, but with a much lighter and more vibrant palette. Resting on black iron hairpin legs offers an industrial appearance and combining these two textures gives this table a modern appeal.  Finished with a Tung Oil Varnish, the top will repel water and maintain it’s subtle luster for decades.  This versatile table can be used in a foyer, behind a sofa, or as a console table to display your possessions in any room in your house.  Measures 71″W X 16″D X 31″H and is priced at $489

This Fleur de lis pattern mid century Ironstone Dinnerware Set by Norleans has had only one owner who received this china as a wedding gift in 1965.  Ironstone china is not porcelain; it is a porous, glaze-covered earthenware, consisting of clay mixed with iron slag and feldspar, and a small amount of cobalt.  This complete set is comprised of 44 pieces of china which includes :
