This tight grained slab of Old Growth Tidewater Red Cypress sits on mid century hairpin legs and measures 18″W x 46″L x 17″H. Fine, intricate growth rings and a color reminiscent of golden wheat give this table universal appeal. This regal slab of spalted elm was chosen for its swirling grain pattern, warm crimson and ivory wood tones, and captivating textural variation. A large-scale walnut dovetail inlay adds structural integrity and complements the natural hues of the elm. Tinted resin fills and bonds the cracks which occurred during the drying process while adding to the sophisticated yet rustic character of this unique piece. This captivating live edge pecan coffee table exhibits the swirling grain, curvilinear figuring, and diverse color palette which make pecan one of America’s most interesting hardwoods. The deep red tones surrounding prominent black knots give this slab a texture reminiscent of marble or granite. The lumber used in this top was milled from a large pecan tree which fell in Hanover during hurricane Isabel in 2003. S.D. Quarles, Jake’s grandfather, planted the tree at Lakewood Farm during the 1940’s. It supplied pleasant shade and abundant pecans for many a season before giving us this beautiful material. The top is seen in the photo above on an unstained hickory base constructed with joinery reminiscent of timber frame architecture. Below it is pictured on iron hairpin legs. This cherry table top was milled from an exceptionally large cherry tree at Old Church in Mechanicsville. It measures 21″ x 54″ and features figured oak inlays chiseled by hand. A polymerized tung oil finish gives the wood a warm glow while accentuating depth and providing excellent water resistance. $300, legs sold separately at $65/set
