This vintage Senneh Kilim runner displays multiple connected medallions surrounded by a triple border and decorated with an abstract pattern of irregular rectangles. A diverse, vibrant color scheme of red, blues, greens, yellow, black and beige exudes vitality and celebration. This carpet is tightly woven of the finest wool in the characteristic style of the city of Senneh, one of Iran’s most important centers of rug production. As in most carpets of this style, the finest craftsmanship underlies a beautifully simple folk art pattern. Condition is excellent, with no significant wear or fading. The traditional design scheme seen here is well suited for modern decor because of its elemental abstract geometry.

This hand knotted wool runner is a high quality reproduction of carpets produced by the Gabbeh tribe of Iran. It features the characteristic animal motifs, lively colors, and durable wool of Gabbeh rugs for a fraction of the price. It is very thick, plush, and comforting to walk on. The asymmetrical placement of rudimentary animal and human figures throughout the rug gives a sense of activity and draws the eye naturally down the hall. There is some damage to one of the fringes, and minor wear on the pile appropriate for age of the rug.
