<SOLD>This is a rare mid-century modern atomic era clock by Elgin. Compared to other vintage starburst wall clocks, it is small in scale and minimalist in design. Eight rays, constructed of walnut framed in brass, readily draw the eye to the clock face and make this design seem far less busy than others which feature many more rays. The negative space created by the outward pointing triangular cutouts at the base of each ray decreases the visual weight of the clock while enhancing the feeling of movement outward from the center; each ray takes on a compressed boomerang profile which will tie in with all the major mid-century design motifs (surfboard, boomerang, elongated diamond, etc.) found in atomic era decor, furniture, and pop art. This stellar time piece has a diameter of 25 inches. Sold 2/11/17 for $250
