Surfboard Coffee Table Hickory Epoch

Surfboard Coffee Table Hickory Epoch
This one of a kind coffee table was inspired by mid-century modern design, but incorporates subtle contours which can’t be found in factory-made vintage furniture. We use fine-tuned hand tools to give the edges an organic flow which just can’t be achieved with a router bit or power saw blade. Notice in the photos how the corners taper slightly to give a sleek sculptural effect reminiscent of the edge of a surfboard without being an exact copy. The overall impression of the piece also brings to mind the hull of a watercraft or a naturally worn river stone.
We produce this design in a variety of material, but the Hickory seen here is especially fetching with a deep, rich patina and plenty of textural interest. Unlike most 1960’s factory furniture, this piece received no artificial coloring. The finish is a Tung Oil Varnish which lends a natural satin sheen, repels water better than any synthetic finish, and is amazingly easy to maintain and touch up. This table measures 51″W X 21″D X 14″H. These black hairpin legs can easily be switched upon request to change the height of the table. $399
