Description
This vintage 1960s Moroccan Berber rug was hand woven in the traditional manner by the Ouaouzguite people of the High Atlas mountains, using indigenous sheep’s wool dyed with color fast natural pigments. This particular carpet’s origin and history imbue it with a rare, rich, and soft patina which is impossible to duplicate. It’s hues are a product of the ecosystem which sustained the artisans who created it, the terrain, the water, and the minerals in the soil. It is especially striking when viewed alongside other artisanal textiles which display their own regional character with equal grace. It is a soft, lovely rug and a truly unique piece of folk art.
