Description

  • This walnut highly sculpted bedroom set consists of a 9 drawer low dresser, an armoire, 2 nightstands, and a large, horizontal wall mirror. Manufactured in Montreal, Canada, Tabago Furniture was known for their sculptural designs influenced by North Carolina furniture makers Kent Coffey and Broyhill. This distinct style of furniture is sometimes labeled ‘brutalist’ or ‘rough modern.’  All pieces have inset smoked mirrored panels and solid wood elements. The top of the triple low dresser has been refinished, and the top section of the armoire was structurally reinforced by a previous owner, as documented in photos. All other pieces have been thoroughly cleaned, detailed and touched up.  The armoire consists of two sections stacked on top of each other and has a total of five drawers and three adjustable interior shelves. The top section of the armoire has hooks on the interior of the left door for scarves and/or neckties and a pant hanger on the right. The nightstands each have one, adjustable, interior shelf. One nightstand has some color variation on the top surface. The large mirror is designed to hang on the wall above the low dresser. This mid century bedroom set is in very good vintage condition and is being sold as a set; individual pieces currently unavailable separately. This Canadian brutalist set is often incorrectly referred to as Tobago Furniture.
