Description
This unique pedestal desk features three tiered surfaces with a removeable, loosely woven, caned “modesty panel” behind the knee opening that hides the legs of the user from those sitting or standing in front. All 3 top surfaces are framed in contrasting wood veneer. A cabinet flanks the center writing surface with a pull out shelving panel on the interior of the left cabinet and one removeable shelf on the right. Each door has a brass plated diamond pull that is original to the piece. This desk rests on short, sturdy, tapered legs with brass ferrules. With a beautifully finished back, this vintage desk can be placed away from the wall and “float” in any room. Constructed of solid wood overlaid with a combination of select cherry and walnut veneer, this innovative mid century desk has been professionally refinished and is in excellent restored condition with one small veneer repair.
