Description

This rare, vintage bentwood armchair was an actual prototype by noted midcentury designer Milo Baughman designed for Thayer Coggins. A single seamless sheet of bent hardwood encases the shell, giving an unmistakable profile to this important piece of mid century modern furniture history.  The seat cushion and interior shell are covered in plaid upholstery, which has faded significantly with age.  Original foam has been replaced on the cushion.  There is a small indentation in the wood on the bottom of the back of the chair as documented in photos.  Thayer Coggin’s signature is written in black marker on the bottom of the seat frame.  Resting on slender tapered legs, this vintage armchair is in very good vintage condition. Seat height is 17 inches.  Upholstery services available.
